QNB ATM Education City Stadium

This world-class football stadium was finished in 2020 and renovated for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. It's located in Al Rayyan, Qatar near several university campuses and it's easily one of the most impressive facilities I've ever seen! It's also one of the planet's most environmentally sustainable stadiums in the world. I especially love the colors and patterns spread across it's 25,000 seats, and when they're used as a backdrop, you can get an incredible shot. 📷: in collaboration with @tommylundberg

This image was taken inside the QNB ATM Education City Stadium. The stadium is easily accessible by car, taxi or metro and is also connected to the Education City tram system. You have to have special access to get onto the field for this shot, so you'll need permission ahead of time. Contact the stadium (+974 4440 7777) and schedule a visit to make sure you'll have access. Once you're inside the stadium, make your way through the corridors until you're out on the grass. If possible, position the camera within a clean section of seats and try to center your subject accordingly.

Tips

When to go

Best season

All months

Best time

Mid-day
The view at the QNB ATM Education City Stadium will be similar year round, but please remember that you have to have special access to visit.
To make the most of the light on the field, you'll want to go during mid-day hours before harsh shadows take over the frame.

Field tips

Make sure you are given direct permission to walk out on the field.
I think it looks best to shoot with a wide lens (24mm or wider) so you can capture the scale of stadium's seating.
Grab a soccer ball and get creative! Have the model hide it in front of their face or have it in motion for something different.
Center your model with the seat pattern behind so there's a sense of balance in the photo.
I also think it helps to have your subject wear a colored shirt that pops from the green grass.
Position yourself in the center of the field to get the symmetry we found.
