QF Ceremonial Court Geometric Structure

This image was taken on the side of the white geometric structure in QF Ceremonial Court, which is a part of Education City. The best way to get to this location is by driving, but you can also take public transportation. Ride on the Green Line until you get to the Education City stop and then head southeast toward the court. This structure is right next to the side of the road when you enter Education City. After getting past the entrance to the court, walk around through the white architecture and reference the GPS coordinates to find this perspective.

Most people try to avoid the hottest months of the summer (June, July, August), but you can visit and photograph the QF Ceremonial Court in similar conditions year-round.

Aim for photographing at this spot when the sun is either rising or setting. During those two times of the day, the sun will be lower and it'll create long, beautiful lines.

It's important to shoot with a wide-angle lens (24mm) here if you include the structure in the foreground. If the lens is too narrow, you won't be able to feature the interior and exterior.

I think it looks best to use the pattern of the geometric structure to frame the photo.

Bring dresses or scarfs that flow nicely to allow for a more dramatic effect as a model.

Experiment and use the body of water to play with reflection photography.

Education City is a popular place for street and architecture photography. Spend the afternoon there and then go back at night to capture different lighting conditions of the structures.

Walk along the American University and then finish your stroll at Oxygen Park.
