This photo of Mount Hood was taken on the north side of Lost Lake, looking southeast across the lake towards Mount Hood. To access this spot, park in the Lost Lake North Viewpoint parking lot by the Lakeshore Trailhead (45.495847, -121.822408). From the parking area, walk southwest along Lakeshore Trail #656.
Along Lakeshore Trail #656, there are plenty of openings in the trees that offer incredible views over Lost Lake. Each one is a little different, with unique foregrounds and slightly varied views of the mountain. For my exact perspective, follow the trail for a few minutes until you reach the point referenced in the GPS coordinates. Then, through the trees, face your camera out towards the lake.
