Tenku no Torii (Torii Gate in the Sky)

avatar
@georgiarisa
Located on the edge of a mountain, Tenku no torii gives justice to its name—it literally means Torii gate in the sky. Besides a stunning view of Mount Fuji blanketed in beautiful white snow, you will also get clear views of Kawaguchiko Lake and endless greenery. Not many people know of this spot, as it was only built in 2019.

This photo was taken at Tenku no Torii. It takes around 30 minutes to hike up the mountain from Kawaguchi Asama Shrine. If you don't want to hike, I recommend taking a taxi as there is no parking available around. You can get to Kawaguchi Asama Shrine from Kawaguchi Station by taking the Fuji-Q Highland-Natural Living Center-Fuji-Q Highland Bus. If you get off at Kawaguchi Post Office, you will be very close to Kawaguchi Asama Shrine. From there, hike the Shirataki Forest Road for 30 minutes, and you will see Tenku no Torii in front of you. Route to the GPS coordinates, and you will assuredly arrive.
