I took this photograph from the Griffith Park Observatory Trails Peak.
Griffith Park gets very crowded during sunset, especially on weekends, and can cause a lot of traffic in the park and a limited amount of parking spaces. I prefer to park at the main lot by the Observatory (they just started to charge meters for parking).
Once parked, if you turn your back to the Observatory, you will see an entrance for the trails next to the parking lot entrance. Once on the trail, there is a shortcut right after you cross a bridge like point with a rock wall. The shortcut is a steeper walk but saves a considerable amount of time. It’s pretty worn so you should see other hikers taking it. Follow this to the top of the mountain where you will come to a big opening with some picnic tables and an American Flag. Look west and you should see the Hollywood sign!
