Given the spectacular payoff of this relatively moderate trek, Lake Ann is one of the best bang-for-your-buck hiking locations in Washington. Through shaded woods that transform into lush meadows, over boulder fields and onto beautifully graded trail, this hike has a mix of everything. And with the finale of your walk being a pristine mountain lake seated at the foot of wondrous Mt. Shuksan, the destination is just as beautiful as the journey.

The trail to Lake Ann meanders into the Mount Baker Wilderness through a wooded area that switchbacks down into the headwaters of the Swift Creek Drainage.
After about 2.5 miles you'll see a signed junction with Swift Creek Trail #607. Continue ascending toward Mount Shuksan, up through sub-alpine forests and onto talus slopes and rocky basins.
After approximately 4 miles, you'll reach the saddle above Lake Ann. As you continue downward, you'll come across an unsigned junction with the left fork leading toward Fisher Chimneys climbing route and the right fork leading to campsites around the lake.
To reach the view where this shot was taken, make your way to the southwest side of the lake. Once you're there the perspective will be easy to find, given the enormity of the rock formations around you.
