At Inveraray Castle, you'll feel like you just stepped into a storybook fairytale from a land far, far away. The structure has been standing along the shores of Loch Fyne since the 15th century and the castle was one of the earliest examples of Gothic Revival architecture.

This photo of Inveraray Castle was taken from inside the castle's garden, which is only accessible during the castle's opening hours. Reference the GPS coordinates when you arrive on the grounds and you'll be able to stand in the same spot where I captured this view.
If you're driving, you can follow these directions:
- From the South, exit the M74 at junction 4 and follow signs for Glasgow City centre (M8)
- Travel up the M8 taking junction 30 for the Erskine Bridge and join the A82 to Dumbarton and Loch Lomond
- At Tarbet, near the head of picturesque Loch Lomond, bear left onto the A83 signposted for Inveraray
For alternate ways to visit the premises, check the castle's website: https://www.inveraray-castle.com/visit/getting-here

Tips
When to go
Best season
September, October, November
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
To capture the red tree in your shot, I suggest photographing Inveraray Castle in the fall. I think that the second half of October, or the beginning November, is the best time to see the autumnal foliage at its peak.
You'll be able to recreate similar lighting conditions anytime during the day.
Field tips
Make sure to stand far enough back so that the red tree peaks out from the side of your image. The leaves will incorporate some texture and evoke a sense of seasonality.
To play into the natural colors of the scene, my model was wearing a plaid red cloak. The red popped against the road and castle and added a human element, as well as a sense of scale, to the shot.
Another great angle of the castle is from the car park. As soon as you park, start shooting and you'll be able to get varying perspectives leading up to the castle.

Do nearby
Tours of the castle are self-guided, but you can also schedule a guided tour via advanced booking. After exploring the interior, make sure to sit down for a light lunch or a cup of tea.
You can also visit Inveraray Bell Tower, which is close by.
Lastly, I highly recommend Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National park, which is an area about 30 minutes away from this location.
