After three years of construction, American sculptor Richard Serra's "7" was unveiled to the public in 2011. The massive piece stands nearly 80 feet tall at the end of the MIA Park pier, appearing almost as if it's floating on water when seen from across the park.
The number 7 is regarded as a representation of spiritual significance in Islamic culture, so this sculpture is one of great importance in the capital city of Doha.

This image of the 7 Sculpture By Richard Serra was taken in MIA Park, which is in Doha.
You can walk, take a car or ride on public transportation (National Museum stop via Gold Line) to get to this location. As you walk through the park, you'll notice the sculpture right away near the northern most part of the land. Reference the GPS coordinates and you'll see exactly where I stood to get this perspective.

Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
The 7 Sculpture by Richard Serra can be photographed during any month of the year since it won't change with the seasons.
The early mornings will be the least crowded, but you can find similar lightig conditions midday and late afternoon, too.
Field tips
I preferred capturing a more expansive view of the sculpture and the best way to do this was to shoot with a wide-angle lens (22mm).
I think it looks best to have some people walking through your frame so you can really get a sense of scale. It also adds a bit of movement to your photo.
The incorporation of the blue pieces added a pop of unexpected color to an otherwise neutral scene.

Do nearby
You're in one of the most active areas of Doha. You can go kayaking on the water, grab a coffee at a cafe, visit a museum (like the Museum of Islamic Art) or take a leisurely stroll with scenic views that are as beautiful as they are photogenic. Additionally, you can go up into the sculpture, which is really fun!
