Replica Rialto Bridge in Qanat Quartier

avatar
@parisverra
The colorful villages along this Doha water canal will make you stop and wonder if you're in Europe, rather than the Middle East. The bridge shown in the photo is even modeled after a Venetian bridge of the same style—hence the name Replica Rialto Bridge. Grab a cold scoop of ice cream and sit underneath the shaded bench as you take in the Qanat's Quarter's beauty. With one click of you're camera, you've got the perfect shot!

This image was taken from a bench that looks onto the Replica Rialto Bridge in the Qanat Quartier. When you enter the Qanat Quartier, begin walking to the south end of the area, near Marina Drive. Then, reference the GPS coordinates and face west toward the bridge for a similar perspective. The easiest way to reach Qanat Quartier at The Pearl is via car or booking a taxi, such as Uber, Karwa or Careem. The nearest metro station is Legtaifiya (Red line). From the metro station, the M110 Metrolink bus will take you directly to The Pearl. Allowing for greater accessibility around the Island, convenient complimentary limousines are available daily from 10am to 11pm. The limo can be used throughout Medina Centrale, Porto Arabia, Qanat Quartier and Viva Bahriya. For bookings contact +974 8008883 ten minutes before you want to be picked up. If you have your own vehicle, there is an ample amount of free parking spaces and free parking garages in Qanat Quartier. Paid valet parking is available, too.

Tips

When to go

Best season

All months

Best time

Sunrise, Morning
If you aren't concerned about the weather being too warm, (like it is in the summer) then you can visit the Replica Rialto Bridge in the Qanat Quartier during any month. In terms of crowds, it's worth noting that this area is much busier in the winter.
For lighting purposes, try to visit at sunrise through early morning. There will be less people about then, as well as soft, diffused light. Sunset, although busier with people, is an enjoyable time to really take advantage of all that the area has to offer, like food, snacks and boat rides.

Field tips

I recommend a 24-70mm lens to capture the bench, as well as the bridge in the background.
Try to shoot from an angle so your model isn't blocking the view of the bridge.
For a model, I think it looks nice to have them wear something flowy, light colored, bright or even colorful to match the scenery. Have fun with it!

For an even closer, more interactive, view of the canals, I recommend taking a gondola around the quarter.
This area has some amazing food options—come hungry! Some of the most popular eateries are Volume Cafe, Bella Ciao Cafe and Artist Cafe.
The entire quarter is walkable, so wear some comfortable shoes and spend the day getting your steps in while browsing the shops and sights.
Discover the art of pottery at Clay Encounters. Besides offering classes, the cute store is filled with adorable pots and great gifts.
Tour Qanat Quartier on an e-scooter. @ride_falcon has launched e-scooters around The Pearl. Download the app and scan your ID or drivers license.
The famous Piano staircase overlooks Qanat Quartier’s retail area, producing melodic tones with blinking lights every step of the way.
