This image was taken in the market entryway of Falcon Souq, which is a part of Souq Waqif. It's easiest to take a taxi to the market, but you can also take public transportation to "Souq Waqif" via Gold Line.
Enter through the main entrance of the shopping area through the Abdullah Bin Thani Street entrance.
Once inside, walk up to the first large path intersection and look up to see the columns and architecture. You can also reference the GPS coordinates to find the exact location of where I stood for this perspective.
Tips
When to go
Best season
All months
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
You can visit the market entryway in Falcon Souq during any month of the year. Since the area is covered, it won't be affected by the weather.
The daylight hours are preferred, unless you have a tripod with you to shoot in even darker conditions. The morning will be the least busy time if you're looking for a quieter scene.
Field tips
This area is dark, so be aware of your surroundings while you're taking your photos.
A wide-angle lens (24mm) is necessary here. Without it, you won't be able to fit the wide architectural scene.
Focus on symmetry so the photo is well balanced. The architecture is the highlight of the shot—make sure it's composed correctly!
Stand at the entryway and then look up to emphasize the height of the ceilings in the building.
