Heenat Salma Farm Textured Rugs

This image of the interior was taken on Heenat Salma Farm. The best way to get to this remote location is by car. When you get to the property, drive down the main road and find parking in the area near the check-in. Then, take the path that passes by the five green houses. Head to the other side of the tree line. From there, you'll see a building they call Majlis, which is central to the farm and surrounded by gardens, sidr trees and the lodging/tent area. This space houses a wellness treatment room, a library, an outdoor terrace for relaxation and a lap pool. Reference the GPS coordinates and you'll see the exact spot where I stood for this perspective of the indoor area.

I visited the Heenat Salma Farm in December to get nice shots of the landscape. You can visit the farm year round and in the spring months, you'll have a better chance at interacting with more Qatari people.

Morning to late afternoon, you can find similar lighting conditions. This place is beautiful—day or night.

Respect the locals by keeping your camera away until you start taking photos. It's an amazing spot for candid portraits, but be polite and courteous when taking pictures of people. Always respect people's privacy.

A wide-angle lens (30mm) will work best inside the building so you can incorporate the ceiling, landscape in the distance and decorative rugs.

Try to stand with your camera in line with the middle ceiling beam for a sense of symmetry. Also, pay attention to the positioning of the archways.

Bring along a friend and take some lifestyle shots. Have them sit down near the table so they're interacting with the space.

The best part about this location is that it's in the middle of nowhere, giving you the chance to relax and unplug. Walk around the grounds and explore the different areas, both indoor and outdoor.
