Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas view of Lighthouse

This image of the water and lighthouse was taken on the grounds of the Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas. I stood across from the lighthouse near the Resort Marina to get this shot. If you're coming from Doha, the drive will be about an hour and a half until you reach the hotel. The property is also connected to the Desert Falls Water & Adventure Park. From the main entrance of the hotel, walk through the lobby to the beach toward Resort Marina. Once you're walking along the waterfront, the lighthouse cannot be missed! There'll be a walkway to the lighthouse and in order to get this perspective, you'll need to stand directly across from it. Reference the GPS coordinates and you'll find the exact location of where I stood to capture this photo. I prefer visiting the Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas in the cooler months, such as January or February, because of where the sun will line up next to the lighthouse. That said, you can capture a familiar composition any month of year.

For similar conditions, sunset will be the best time to visit. If you come here a bit earlier than sunset, you can enjoy the beachside amenities and take a dip in the water, too.

Not only will the incorporation of a model breathe some life into your photo, it'll also provide a sense of scale in relation to the lighthouse.

There isn't much of a foreground element in this composition so you might have to get creative and use railings, benches or other elements.

For an even more expansive view of the sky, try photographing at a lower angle to create a unique look.

Be on the lookout for dolphins! While I was staying at the hotel, I was told that dolphins would frequent the area during specific times of the year.
