Arabian Gulf, Lighthouse & Hilton Salwa Beach Resort

Perfect for a vacation not so far away from home to experience the illustrious Persian Gulf shores, much like Santorini in Greece. The classic color combination of white and blue elevates any picture—trust me! Take a break and enjoy this amazing place. (before flying a drone, check and follow local drone regulations and permit requirements)

This image was taken from the lighthouse at the Hilton Salwa Resort, which extends out to the Arabian Gulf. The Hilton Salwa Resort locates about an hour away from Doha city towards the Salwa border (KSA). The hotel is not open to the public. So you will either need to book a hotel room or request permission to shoot in advance. Tips

When to go

Best season

All months

Best time

Late afternoon
Though it's possible to capture a clear scene of the Arabian Gulf, Lighthouse, and the Hilton Salwa Beach Resort all months of the year, I recommend going in the winter season when you're most likely to get a clear frame. Haziness is common in the country during other seasons.
Visit in the late afternoon or afterward, when the sun is behind the drone. The light will evenly illuminate your landscape, giving you a clear frame.

Field tips

Before flying a drone, check and follow local drone regulations and permit requirements.
Stay hydrated.
In bright light, a Neutral Density filter can help you clearly compose the landscape with a wide aperture without overexposing.
The boardwalk to the lighthouse is a great leading line to cross your frame. Be intentional with how you frame it.
Keep an eye out for the variant of colors in the Arabian Gulf water. The differing contrasts may influence how you compose your shot.
