Short hike, big reward! Save the more difficult trails for another day and enjoy the leisurely path to God's Thumb along the photogenic coast of Oregon. My favorite thing to do is to stand at the top of the hill and feel the cool ocean breeze against my face as I gaze out into the water — an overwhelming feeling of true tranquility and beachside bliss.

This photo of God's Thumb and Rock Island was taken from the end of The Knoll/God's Thumb Trailhead, which is next to High Meadow.
There are a few parking options in this area, but I recommend parking in the Roads End State Recreation Site lot (45.008040, -124.008532) and then walking to the trailhead of The Knoll/God's Thumb (45.014403, -124.004003).
From the parking lot, walk north one block and turn right onto NE 61st St. Follow this street as it curves and then make a right onto NE 63rd St. Stay on this road through the intersection and then turn left onto NE Port Dr. Continue on NE Port Drive until the gate at the end of the road where the trail will begin. The walk from the parking lot to the gate is about 0.64 miles.
The trail up to God's thumb is pretty easy to follow. After about 1.26 miles of hiking from the gate you will come to a split, go left to continue to Gods Thumb. Reference the GPS coordinates and you'll come to the spot where I took this photo — about 0.12 miles after this split.
If you continue all the way to the top of God's Thumb, the hike from the parking lot will be about 4.4 miles roundtrip hike with about 1,100 feet of elevation gain.
