Lake Biwa Canal

avatar
@_deepsky
The Lake Biwa Canal is a man-made waterway that's been an integral part of the city of Shiga since it was built in 1890. Not only is this canal useful, but it's also very picturesque. The cherry blossoms on either side of the path bloom over and frame the scene in a vibrant way.

This image was taken on the walkway above the Lake Biwa Canal, which is in Otsu, Shiga. The best way to get to this location is by taking public transportation. Take the Ishiyama Sakamoto line to Miidera Station and then head southwest toward the canal. Reference the GPS coordinates and you'll find yourself in the same spot where I stood to capture this image.
