Field tips
For this composition you’ll have to shoot in the middle of the road. Be careful!
By using a wide-angle lens (35mm) you’ll be able to frame lots of the environment: the tram, both sides of the street, buildings in the background and Chinese characters on the road (which means “Tram Line Only”).
The tram often stops for one-to-two minutes at the intersection at a traffic light. This will help you get a crisp view of the tram.
It helps to get low! This allowed me to hone in on the parallel lines from the tram track.
To capture the light trails you’ll need a tripod. I took multiple photos and combined this in post-processing.
