Away from buildings, hotels and tourists, is one of the most pristine beaches on the island of Oahu. The luxurious sand and turquoise water depicts a serene stretch of untouched natural beauty that's best seen from above the shoreline.

This drone image was taken above the Mākua Beach shoreline, with a view of the Kuaokala Forest Reserve mountains in the background.
Mākua Beach is located along the northwest part of the island. Typically, there's bad traffic heading here, so I like to leave downtown Honolulu by 3pm at the latest. From Honolulu, head north along Farrington Highway (93) and then park in the lot called Parking for Mākua Beach (21.526078, -158.227812).
Walk north toward the shoreline where you can launch your drone and you'll be able to photograph a similar north-facing perspective of the ocean and mountains.
