On the west side of Oahu lies this slice of tropical paradise. Not known by many, this tide pool appears once the high tide drops — creating a private sanctuary of sun, sand and sea.

This image of the tide pool was taken near the shoreline of Keaau Beach. There's only one main road, Farrington Highway (Highway 93) that leads here and you'll have to park on the side of the road, near the entrance to Keeau Beach (21.495009, -158.229372) and then walk about 50 yards to get to this tide pool.
From Mākaha, drive north on the highway and then turn left to park. Reference the GPS coordinates and you'll be able to find the tide pool — just remember that the tide pool will look like this during low tide.
