This photo of the southeast coast of Oahu at sunrise was taken from Kahala Beach, directly in front of the Kahala Hotel.
To get here, park at the Waialae Beach Park parking lot (21.270140, -157.777566), directly off Kahala Ave. Walk down to the beach, and then head left down the beach until you've reached the Kahala Hotel.
From here, you should see a small sand bar covered in palm trees that juts out into the water. At sunrise, the location of the sand bar perfectly line ups with the rising sun. I faced my camera east towards the sand bar, with the water in the foreground of my frame.
Directions from Waikiki:
- Head southeast on I-H-1 E
- Take exit 26B to merge onto Waialae Ave toward Waialae-Kahala Business Dist
- Turn right onto Kilauea Ave
- Turn left onto Makaiwa St
- Turn left at the 1st cross street onto Moho St
- Turn right onto Kealaolu Ave
- Turn left onto Kahala Ave
- The Waialae Beach Park parking lot will be on your right
