One of my all time favorite landscapes to photograph is a mountain reflection in a lake. There is something simple and calming about this minimalist shot, yet it is also so attractive when you have the right scene. This spot is one of those places that is just that, attractive! Not to mention, it’s really easy to shoot!

This spot is the Silver Lake boat launch on the June Lake Loop (Highway 158) and is very easy to access.
June Lake Loop is a 16 mile loop off of Highway 395 and has both a south entrance and a north entrance. Make your way to June Lake on Highway 395 and turn onto June Lake Loop (Highway 158). If you are coming from the south (north) it will be a left (right) turn.
When coming from the south, you will enter the south entrance (there is an easily identifiable Shell gas station on the corner). You will drive approximately 6.9 miles to Silver Lake and then park in a parking lot on the right side just past the Silver Lake Resort. When coming from the north you will enter the north entrance. Drive 8.9 miles and park in a parking lot on the left just before the Silver Lake Resort.
Get out of your car and walk toward the water approximately 100-ft to the boat launch (easily identifiable). Here you can see the view and walk up and down the shoreline to find your spot!
