I photographed the featured image from Hot Creek Hatchery Road and faced south towards the mountian range.
Head toward the Mammoth / Yosemite Airport approximately 10 miles south of Mammoth Lakes on Highway 395. Turn north on Hot Creek Hatchery Road and drive for approximately 0.5 miles, then make a right (it’s the second right) to stay on Hot Creek Hatchery Road and continue for 1.2 miles.
Park in the dirt when the paved road makes a hard left (if it is a heavy snow year, this will be the end of the road). This is the spot and Mount Morrison is readily identifiable when looking back towards Highway 395.
