Ruby Beach is a gorgeous stretch of PNW coastline in the Olympic National Park, which hosts a wide variety of landscapes that ranges from coastline to high alpine mountains. In order to experience the full effect of the PNW, I highly recommend visiting when the weather is dark and moody (like it is in this shot!). The image you capture will evoke a very different perspective of what most people think of when they hear "let's go to the beach", but nonetheless, it's just as beautiful!

How to get there

This image was taken on Ruby Beach, looking onto the sea stacks from a small cave rock, on the Olympic Peninsula. To reach this spot, park at the Ruby Beach Trailhead, just off Highway 101 (south). The beach is just a short five-minute walk from the parking lot (47.709709, -124.413903). Once you're down at the beach level, cross over the field of drift wood and continue north up the beach until you find a large grouping of rocks near the water. There will be a gap between some of the rocks that you'll be able to walk through and then look toward your left to see this "cave" view looking out onto the sea. It isn't really a cave, but more of a tunnel. I recommend referencing the GPS in satellite mode to help you locate the exact point where I stood.
