Nestled along the serene shores of Lamai Beach, this tranquil pathway is one of Ammatara Pura Pool Villas' most enchanting spots. Shaded by frangipani trees and bordered by elegant traditional Thai architecture, it leads gracefully to the azure waters of the Gulf of Thailand. This serene setting perfectly captures the essence of Ammatara Pura, where lush greenery and intricate design come together to create a royal, almost dreamlike atmosphere.

Best season

All months

Best time

Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
You can photograph the serene Ammatara Pura Pool Villa all months of the year, though the best months for photography are December to April, during Koh Samui’s dry season. This period offers clear skies, bright sunlight, and calm seas, making it ideal for capturing the vibrant blues of Lamai Beach and the intricate details of the resort's architecture. The monsoon season (October to November), when I visited, offered a more dramatic feel to my photos.
Visit around mid-day, which is when I took this photo, to capture the vibrant greens of the landscaping and sparkling blue waters. For the most dramatic photos, plan your shoots at sunrise or sunset. Sunrise brings ethereal light reflecting off the ocean and creates a serene atmosphere with fewer people around. Sunset, while Lamai Beach faces east, still offers a gorgeous play of pastel hues and dramatic shadows from the trees and pavilions.

Field tips

Use a Telephoto Lens for Compression: Utilize a telephoto lens to visually compress the distance between the model and the backdrop of Lamai Beach. This technique creates a striking effect where the model appears closer to the ocean, emphasizing the connection between the subject and the tranquil seaside setting.
Leverage Leading Lines: Use the paved pathway to guide the viewer’s eye toward the serene expanse of Lamai Bech. Position your subject at the end of the path for added focus and depth.
Highlight Thai Design: Emphasize the traditional wooden architecture. Capture the intricate carvings and cultural elements as focal points to add storytelling depth to your photo.
Incorporate Silhouettes: Photograph a subject, like a model in traditional attire, walking along the pathway. Use their silhouette to add a human element that complements the cultural and natural beauty of the scene.
Play with Natural Framing: Use the overarching frangipani trees to frame the pathway and lead attention to the ocean. This adds a sense of intimacy and layers to the composition.
Experiment with Perspective: Shoot low along the path to emphasize its leading lines and scale, or step back to include more of the lush foliage and architectural details for a grander scene.
