With a turbulent history of murder, love, and royalty, this lone-standing 14th-century castle on the west side of Scotland prominently sits on a tidal inlet, drawing visitors from all over the world with its intriguing past. The castle is privately owned, but every year, they hold a limited amount of guided tours so you're able to visit the interior of the property, too. Whether on the shore or on the island, it's a sight worth seeing!

This image was taken on the shore of Appin, looking west onto Castle Stalker.
The best way to get around Scotland is to drive, either by renting a car or taking a ride share. Enter "Castle Stalker" into the GPS and then park along one of the roads near the shore of the castle. After parking, head west and then reference the GPS coordinates to get to the exact spot where I stood for this west-facing perspective.
