Zekreet Rock Formations

These strange rock formations are near the northwestern village of Zekreet, about 80 kilometers from Doha. After the road ends on the way to Zekreet Rock Formations, head into the desert off-roading until you reach the GPS location of the area. We, first, went to the nearby East-West Art Installation for sunrise, then headed here after.

All months are perfect to photograph the Zekreet rock formations, but I recommend avoiding the hot summer months.

No matter the time, you can capture great photos here. My photo was taken in the soft light of the morning. Harsh light will make the scene feel more dramatic. Colorful hues at sunrise and sunset will also compliment the rock formations nicely.

Before flying a drone, check and follow local drone regulations and permit requirements.

Make sure you bring enough water and snacks, sunscreen/sunglasses, are prepared for the weather/conditions.

It's a very raw and rustic area, so feel free to dress in full desert vibes! Incorporating a model will give scale to the scene.

Pay attention to the shadows and frame what looks most interesting. There's so many creative vantage points to be had, here!
