After conquering a 3,360-foot summit, you'll be met with an incredible scene of a winding river snaking through desert landscape, boulders that are larger than life and a horizon that seems to never end. This climb isn't for the faint of heart, but it's worth it for the views!

This image of the Smith Rock State Park boulder and Crooked River was taken along the Misery Ridge Trail.
To get here, I recommend parking at the Canyon Trail Trailhead (44.366803, -121.136318) in Smith Rock State Park. Follow the Canyon Trail path west and then cross the bridge over Crooked River. Misery Ridge Trail will be directly ahead of the bridge. It's a steep incline to get to the top of the rock, so go slowly and give yourself time. Once you're at the summit of the trail, reference the GPS coordinates to see exactly where I stood to get this south-facing view of the boulder and Crooked River.
