Tips
When to go
Best season
September, October, November
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
Visit this location in autumn before the bare winter months. There will be signs of fallen leaves and foliage, but the greenery will still be lush and it will be warm enough for your model to be without heavy winter clothes.
I took this photo during the afternoon on a cloudy day. You want the vibrant colors to pop, so I would avoid going when it's sunny and there's a lot of harsh light. When it's overcast, the blue will appear bluer, the green greener and the red redder.
Field tips
I enjoyed using the doors to frame my photo. I had the model walk in the middle of the doors to create a sense of symmetry.
One of my favorite things about this photo is that the colors all complement each other. Wherever you're photographing, pay attention to this! It will make your photos have a cohesiveness that is aesthetically pleasing.
Get a closer look using a 35mm lens. This will give your photo a whole new perspective!
