Enter the sacred space of Hosen-in Temple and see this exquisite 700- year-old pine tree through floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The temple was originally built in 1012, and since then, it's been a place of serenity and reflection. Sip on their homemade matcha tea and take in the peaceful surroundings of this historical landmark.

This image of the framed garden was taken inside Hosen-in Temple (宝泉院). I purchased a ticket at the entrance and then proceeded along the route, where I could see the tree from the window. From Takaragaike Station a bit outside of Kyoto, you can take Kyoto Bus 16 and get off at Ohara. The temple will then be a 10-minute walk away. Make sure to check the bus times: http://www.hosenin.net/access For more information about visiting, check the temple's website: http://www.hosenin.net Telephone number: 075-744-2409 Address: Hosen-in 187 Ohara Shorinincho, Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, Japan
