Somewhat lost between the famous cities of Siena and Rome is the hidden gem of a village, Orvieto. Teeming with traditional houses and serpentine alleys, the old town impressively combines a hill plateau and the vibrant rhythm of contemporary life. What stands out from a bird's eye view is an unexpected green rectangle of a football field, nestled among the buildings as if it were always meant to be there.
In this small town, you'll find a visual narrative of Italy's enchanting village life, with geometric shapes, beautiful architecture, and of course, a taste of Italy.
As I always say, Italy's ancient villages are always worth a visit.

This photo of the old town of Orvieto and the soccer field was taken from Piazza Ippolito Scalza.
To set foot in Piazza Ippolito Scalza, you'll need to drive 1.5 hours south of Siena or 1.5 hours north of Rome. To get there from either of these major cities, take the A1 Highway and turn into SS205. Continue on Str. della Stazione and follow the GPS coordinates. I recommend having Google Maps with you because you can easily get lost.
I stood on Piazza Ippolito Scalza and launched my drone eastward from there to fly directly over the school's football field.
