When it was first constructed in 1908, The Chicago & Northwestern Railway Bridge was the longest and largest bascule bridge in the world — and even though it's not anymore, it's still one of the most popular landmarks in The Windy City. In the winter, it towers above the Chicago River, with the massive skyscrapers emerging against the white-blue sky.
