Tin Fu Courts Look Down

avatar
@vnthota
With spindly skyscrapers and countless sports courts, this massive public housing complex is a drone-enthusiasts dream. Explore a spacious playground with plenty of room to roam or head straight for the skies and snap the courts from high above the ground. (before flying a drone, check and follow local drone regulations and permit requirements.)

This drone photo is of Tin Fu Courts, a public housing complex in Tin Shui Wai. To capture this same perspective, you'll need to launch your drone from the nearby Tin Heng Estate Bus Terminus, which will ensure you'll get a clear flight without interference from the tall buildings. From Ting Heng Estate Bus Terminus, launch your drone and fly south to Tin Fu Courts at about 400m altitude. You're going to want to get really high with this one as you want to be able to get the whole estate. To get to Ting Heng Estate Bus Terminus, take Bus Lines 265B, 265M, 276A or K73, K76.

Tips

When to go

Best season

All months

Best time

Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
All months of the year are suitable to photograph Tin Fu Courts.
Please check the weather before heading out to avoid rain so that your drone doesn't get wet. I recommend photographing the courts during daylight hours when the sun is out.

Field tips

When flying a drone, remember to be safe and follow drone flying best practices. Always plan your flight path ahead and don't fly in unsuitable weather conditions.
You're going to need remote boosters for this one as you're flying quite a bit of distance. Even if you find a spot close by, these buildings can cause some serious interference. I'd also bring along multiple batteries so you can try and get different shots.
Fly high, at around 400 meters altitude, in order to get the entire estate in frame.
If you can, try and shoot in both landscape and portrait mode.
