Fairview Park Houses & Water Formations

This drone image of Fairview Park and the water formations was taken from the Fairview Park Car Park. To get here, I recommend taking public transportation and then a ride-share car to the lot. Avoid going late to this location since transportation back to Yuen Long could be difficult. First, take the MTR Tung Chung Line to Nam Cheong Station. Change to the the West Rail Line and then get off at Long Ping Station in Yuen Long. Once there, you can book a taxi or ride-share car for the rest of the trip to Fairview Park. Please keep in mind you'll have to give them a street number since this is a residential community. Navigate your way to the Fairview Park Car Park once you're inside and then from there, you can launch your drone directly up and slightly southwest to get the houses and marshes in your shot.

I shot this aerial perspective of Fairview Park in October, but you'd be able to find similar conditions during any month of the year.

You can photograph here in the morning, midday or late afternoon as long as the sun isn't too strong. Check the weather before visiting and avoid coming if it's very sunny.

Before launching your drone, check and follow local drone regulations and permit requirements.

Since this is a gated community, try not to cause any unwanted attention — especially when launching the drone.

Attempt to get a decent amount of the marshes in your shot so you can see the architecture in contrast with the water.

You can shoot the patterns of house from many angles and perspectives and it all looks impressive. Don't let this viewpoint limit you!

You can see the only swans in Hong Kong in the man made lake in Fairview.

Check out the Mai Po Sanctuary, which has thousands of animals and insects. You can also take a tour of the marshes within the wetlands.
