Tips
When to go
Best season
All months
Best time
Mid-day, Late afternoon
All months of the year are suitable to photograph along the Former Legislative Council Building.
By visiting in the morning you’ll be able to enjoy the soft light hitting the west side of the building. It’s also likely to be less crowded at that time.
Field tips
I was able to frame the column and arches with my 50mm portrait lens — a wide-angle isn’t necessary.
If you’re photographing a model it’s best if they wear a bright color that contrasts with the grey walls.
Have fun with your model! If you’re capturing them in motion it’s best to take continuous shots and select your favorite later.
There are several perspectives to shoot the walkway arches. Experiment and find your optimal view!
