Patchwork patterns in decades-old asphalt create a minimal, yet intriguing, composition in this well-worn pedestrian crosswalk as it's captured from one of Hong Kong's many elevated footbridges.

Field tips

Be patient! This is a very busy area of Hong Kong, so I recommend setting up your shot and then waiting patiently for the perfect pedestrian to pass into frame. Try to capture someone wearing bright colors, so they really pop against the asphalt and the yellow paint.
Try snapping a few photos rapid fire. You can always retouch out any unwanted people from your frame or you can composite two photos together to combine scenes, which will give you a better chance of getting the shot you're looking for.
Although the asphalt lines and paint are naturally uneven, try to find one straight line and align your image to that. This will help ground the photo and will look cleaner and more precise.

Do nearby

If you like people watching in city scenes, it's worth it to explore the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator, which are a series of raised moving walkways and bridges that traverses across 2,600 feet of steep hillside. They're the largest outdoor covered escalator system in the world and The Hillside Entrance is just steps from this location.
