Central Market Overpass view of Des Voeux Road Central

The vantage point is on the overpass above Des Voeux Road Central, linking the Central Market complex to the Hang Seng Bank Office Headquarters. I faced towards the Queen Victoria St and Des Voeux Road Central intersection. The best way to get here is by tram to Central Market, or to take any exit from the Central MTR Station onto Des Voeux Road. There is an escalator on both buildings that take you up onto the overpass, which links you to the Mid-Levels escalators and the IFC Mall. All months of the year are suitable to photograph from this overpass.

The best time to go is after sunset when the lights of the buildings and skyscrapers turn on. That said, this location carries a unique perspective all times of the day. It gets busy during rush hour, can be empty in the early mornings, and can be a totally different scene in the night. It is one of the places that you can visit at any given time.

Be careful of the railing. Don't hang your hands or legs out👌.

An ultra-wide angle lens (16-35mm) will give scale to the location.

Find a unique angle that suits your frame, whether it is a bit to the side or straight down the middle to get a sense of depth.
