Shriners Beach in front of Shriners Beach Club view of Rabbit Island

With all the makings of a quintessential Hawaii photo, this piece of oceanside paradise is the perfect place to capture a drone photo. It has some of the clearest blue water I've ever seen and at the right time of day, the sun will be just high enough to create beautiful palm tree shadows. Hang out on the beach, jump in the water or spend the day exploring ways to get creative with photography — the possibilities are endless! (before flying a drone, check and follow local drone regulations and permit requirements)

This drone image was taken on Shriners Beach looking east toward Rabbit Island. This beach is a popular island, but while you're there, please be respectful of the land. Always leave the area better than you found it and don't leave behind trash. It's important that we all do our part in caring for the environment — especially at these more delicate locations. If you're coming from Honolulu, take the H1 East Bound towards Hawaii Kai on Kalaniana'ole Highway. You will want to drive through the town and up the coast towards Hanauma Bay. Once you past Hanauma Bay on Kalaniana'ole Highway you will continue driving down the coast past Sandy Beach Park and past Makapu'u Beach Park and Hike. Once you past Makai Pier right after Makapu'u Beach, you will follow the road around a left bend and you'll see a grassy opening to the left side across some houses. Park there. After gathering all of your belongings, you will see a small little opening near some trash bins that will lead down to the beach. This opening will be across the street and between some trees, so be on the look out for it! If you can't find it you can always park at Shriners Beach Club (21.325093, -157.681067); however, the parking can sometimes be limited there. Once you have reached the beach, you will see a palm tree to your right with Rabbit Island in the distance. Walk over towards the GPS coordinates and you will find an open area with some possible shade to put your things down. From there, fly your drone and capture this awesome view!
