This photo of was taken at Tantalus Lookout in Puu Ualakaa State Park, looking southeast out towards Diamond Head. To get here, navigate to Puu Ualakaa State Park off of Round Top Drive — you'll know you've entered the park as you drive through a beautiful tunnel of trees.
Continue down Nutridge Street. There are two options for parking — the first parking lot (21.315537, -157.819879) is further from the lookout, but has considerably more parking spaces. The lookout can be incredibly busy in the evenings, so I usually park here just to be safe. You can also continue on til the end of the road and park right next to the lookout, but there is extremely limited parking available. The larger lot is a 5 minute walk from Tantalus Lookout.
Once at the lookout, find the large tree in the grass on south side of the road, with views out towards Diamond Head.
Always be aware of your surroundings, and don't leave any valuables in your car. There have been break-ins in the past.
