What I love most about this location is all of the colors you can capture from a bird's-eye view. The blue waves ebbing and flowing into the white wash along the rugged brown rocks, the black, yellow and white lines in the highway and the deep greens and fading yellow in the mountains all mesh together to create a stunning tropical image.

This drone image is a top-down shot taken by my DJI Mavic Pro 2 of the S-shape turn on Kalaniana'ole Highway, going toward Kailua (Northeast Bound).
I stood and parked my car at the pull-off a little bit north of Lanai Lookout (easily found on Google Maps) and flew northeast over the S-shaped turn in the road (GPS coordinates: 21.279111, -157.681833)
If you're coming from Honolulu, take the H1 East Bound highway until you reach Kalaniana'ole Highway. This highway takes you through the district called Hawaii Kai and will pass by Koko Head Crater and Hanauma Bay. Once you pass Hanauma Bay and the Koko Head Crater lookout on your left, you'll follow the road and it'll open up to a beautiful ocean lookout to your right of the east coast of Oahu. You can't miss it!
