Whether you're seeing this crater from an ocean-level view or up above from a look down perspective, the other-worldly landscape off the coast of Maui is an incredible destination for drone photography, boating, rafting and snorkeling.

This drone image was taken from above Molokini Crater, which is off the coast of Maui.
There are two ways to get this type of photo. The first option is to fly your drone from the main island of Maui and the second option is to fly from a chartered boat, which is what I did. Boats can be rented all over Maui, so you can easily book one online before venturing to this location.
If you're flying from the coastline of Maui, I suggest standing on Big Beach (20.632855, -156.448566) and then launching your drone from there. You MUST make sure that there is little to no wind that day and that your battery is fully charged if you want to make the flight. I don't recommend flying from Maui, even though I know of people who have done it.
