This photo was taken along the Kalepa Ridge Trail, an unmarked and unofficial trail that begins past the Kalalau Lookout in Koke'e State Park. To get here, park at the Kalalau Lookout parking area (22.150225, -159.645785) directly off Highway 550. On the left side of the parking lot, you should see an unmarked start of the trail near a break in the fence. This trail is only about 2 miles out-and-back, but has some extremely steep sections that are very slippery and dangerous if it's raining. Please only attempt this hike if you are confident in your physical ability and are wearing proper hiking attire. The beginning of the trail starts very steep through the brush — you may need to use your hands if you don't have trekking poles to help you. Eventually, the trail will clear up and you'll have incredible views of the Nā Pali Coast and the ridgeline below. Continue on the trail, slowly and carefully. About 1/3 of the way, there should be a fork in the trail that looks like it veers off to the right — follow this until you reach the point referenced in my GPS coordinates. Please note that this trail does not continue after this point, so you'll have to turn around and rejoin the main trail to continue on your hike! To capture this photo, I positioned my model along the trail in front of me and faced my camera northwest towards the Nā Pali Coast in the background. After you've captured your shot, turn around and rejoin the main trail. If you want to keep going, continue on until you reach the end — there should be incredible views of Kalalau Beach.
