As if emerging from the pages of a storybook, this famous castle's 12th-century charm is framed by leaves and surrounded by a dark-green forest. From this hidden vantage point, you can capture the picturesque castle nestled in the Wierschem valley.

This image was taken at the south end of Cross Chapel, looking on to the Burg Eltz castle. Follow the GPS to see where I stood to get this view of the exterior of the castle and valley, framed by leaves.
To reach the castle, you'll need a car. I recommend parking in the lot just north of the historic landmark (50.211700, 7.339096) and then walking to Cross Chapel.
Be prepared to pay the 2€ parking fee when you park in the lot.
