When to go
Best season
September, October, November
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
All months of the year are suitable to photograph Stiftskirche Quedlinburg, but if you want to capture the autumn colors, visit in the fall.
To get similar lighting conditions, fly your drone in the midday or late afternoon when the sun is high in the sky.
I also recommend flying your drone early in the morning so that you don't have any issues with locals. Some locals passed by when I was shooting and they looked at my screen — they were interested to see their city from above! Fly your drone earlier in the day and you'll be able to avoid the crowds of people in the area.
Field tips
Follow local drone regulations and permit requirements. In Germany, you're required to have insurance and an address on your drone if it weighs more than 250g (approx. 0.5 lbs).
I positioned the two tall towers in the center of my frame which brought a sense of balance to the overall image.
Fly your drone at an angle so you can capture the different types of architecture of the church and castle.
Bring a camera along and take some photos of the charming frame houses. Try using a wide-angle lens when photographing the village so you can capture as much of the architecture as possible in your shot.
