This image was taken along the unmarked roads on the corner of Finkenherd. To get to this location, I recommend parking in the Carl-Ritter-Straße 1 Parking Lot then walking to the GPS coordinates, which will lead you just south of the Giftsgermany gift shop. Upon arriving to the corner, you'll see the Finkenherd frame house in front of you.
From Carl-Ritter-Straße 1 Parking Lot:
- Head northwest on Carl-Ritter-Straße toward Lange G.
- Turn left onto Lange G. and follow the GPS coordinates
Tips
When to go
Best season
September, October, November
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
All months of the year are suitable to photograph the Finkenherd frame houses in Quedlinburg, but to capture the leaves flying around (like I have in my photo), I recommend visiting in the fall.
You can find similar lighting conditions during any time of the day. In the early morning, there will be less tourists so you'll have a better chance of getting a shot without people in your frame. At night, the street lights turn on which also create a great setting for photography.
Field tips
The cobblestone roads are narrow, so try using a wide-angle lens (16mm) to fit the street, houses and background into your shot.
I prefer a lower perspective as it gives a great depth of field to the scenery.
If there isn't wind when you're shooting, you can throw leaves into the air and capture them as they fall to the ground.

Do nearby
It's worth it to visit the Schloßmuseum Quedlinburg. This castle features renaissance architecture, Bronze Age artifacts and rooms that date back to the 18th century.
There are also many local shops and restaurants in the area. Some of the most popular restaurants are Schiller's or the seafood-focused Fischkate Quedlinburg.
