This elongated hallway inside a 16th-century castle embodies pure opulence. Capture the luxurious history, adorned with marble railings, painted ceilings and religious devotional items throughout the palace's oldest room.

How to get there

N48° 08' 25.9152"E11° 34' 44.454"
The image was taken from the top of the stairs after entering the Antiquarium (Room 7) in the Munich Residenzmuseum. To get to the museum, enter from Residenzstraßeand and then use the treasury entrance. Take a left and then another left and you should see a long, baroque hallway that looks similar to the Antiquarium — but make sure to take a right before going into this hallway. You'll then enter a room decorated with seashells called the Grotto. Go straight through the Grotto and keep to the right where you'll see the entrance to the Antiquarium (Room 7). By subway: - Closest station: Odeonsplatz (via U3, U4, U5, U6) - Head south on Residenzstraße toward Viscardigasse and the museum will be on the left Address: Munich Residenzmuseum, Residenzstraße 1, 80333 München, Germany

Tips

When to go

Best season

All months

Best time

Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
All months of the year are suitable to photograph the Antiquarium at Munich Residenzmuseum.
Visit in the early morning to get the best natural light from the windows and to find the palace less crowded. I suggest going straight to the Antiquarium to be one of the first people there. You can also find similar conditions during the midday and late afternoon.

Field tips

I recommend playing around with symmetry, but keep it interesting! I'm a big fan of interrupting symmetry by adding a focal point, like a model to your shot.
Try having your model turn slightly toward you and face the window so they get the natural light on their face.
Walk through the hall and look for details that interest you. Although this hallway looks great from this perspective, it also offers a lot of opportunity for more detailed images because of the intricate decor.
