This image was taken in the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe on the southwest side of the exhibit.
After leaving the metro station, turn left onto Unter den Linden and then turn left onto Wilhelmstraße. You'll pass by the memorial, but instead of stopping there, walk through the entire memorial (I highly recommended this experience!) to get to the exact photo location. Refer to the GPS coordinates to help guide you.

When to go
Best season
All months
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
The concrete columns at the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe can be photographed during any month of the year. The weather will change seasonally, but since there isn't any landscape in the photo, the varying temperatures won't affect your image.
Visit during the day for brighter surfaces on top of the concrete slaps, which will create a nice black and white contrast. On a rainy day, you'll get a smoother surface.
Field tips
Although photography is highly welcomed by the architect, please understand that this is a memorial to a historically important time to not just Germany but all of Europe. Do NOT climb onto any of the concrete slabs and be respectful of the other visitors while you're there.
When framing, try to get a high point of view while cropping out the buildings in the background. This will create a deeper immersion into the surroundings.
Let your model be the only subject of the composition. By walking through the different aisles of the memorial, the effect of isolation is emphasized.

Do nearby
I encourage anyone who visits this location to take the time to visit the museum and learn more about the history that's presented there.
Take a picture of the iconic Berlin symbol: the Brandenburg Gate.
The Reichstag building is also close by, as well as the unique circle façade at Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus. There's a lot to explore in this area, so take the day to explore!
