Linger a little longer within Repovesi National Park to discover Lake Kapiavesi. A path winds its way through columns of pine and birch forest before opening up to the rocky shore of Lake Kapiavesi. The glass-like surface of the lake is quiet against the backdrop of towering trees. The Maakija pier juts out into the lake, offering a way to see things from an entirely different angle. From the pier you can pull yourself on the man-powered Ketunlossi ferry across the lake for even more impressive views.

This photo was taken near Määkijä camping ground in Repovesi National Park. The trail leading to this spot starts at Lapinsalmen pysäköintialue, Riippusillantie 55, Kouvola. There is a parking lot right next to it (Lapinsalmen pysäköintipaikka) and you can get there by taking Riippusillantie Road.
You will find signs that will guide you to Määkijä but I'd recommend routing to the GPS coordinates. Some of the signs might be a bit confusing, especially toward the end, so make sure to double-check on your phone and stay focused on the trail.
You will recognize the place as you see the pier. To capture this photo, I stood behind the grass while my model walked to the pier. This makes the photo more balanced.
There's also a campsite and a bonfire at Määkijä.
