Saanatunturi (Saana Fell) offers some of the most breathtaking views in all of Finland—in all directions. This particular hike is a dream of many Finns to do at least once in their lifetime. It's cold and windy, but so worth it! Given Saana being in northern Finland, it's also a great place to view the Northern Lights.

I took this photo of the amazing view with an explorer on the peak of Saanatunturi (Saana Fell).
The trail starts at the parking lot of Kilpisjärven Retkeilykeskus. You can also park your car there. The address: Käsivarrentie 14663, 99490 Kilpisjärvi.
The trail is around 8km in total (around 4km to the top and back). Follow the sign that says "Saana". You'll be hiking pretty much uphill the entire time, and it's the only route there that does this. So, if you're going uphill consistently, you're on the right path. Eventually, you'll arrive at the peak. It took us around 2 hours during sunrise, but depending on your speed, it might take 4-6 hours. This time range is most common.
