When to go
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
You can photograph this reflective façade during any month of the year.
Anytime during the day is great to capture the details of this architecture. After a rain storm, you'll be able to enhance the structure's reflection even more.
Field tips
If you're on the The Gherkin premises, the security may ask you to leave. Stay on the other side of the street and be aware of your surroundings.
A wide-angle lens (14mm) is preferred because it will help you incorporate a good amount of the architecture as well as the foreground.
Try using the grid on your camera to help you capture a more symmetrical shot.
Bring along a model if possible. If not, be patient and wait for an occasional passerby to walk into your frame. Try capturing them in the middle like I did.
If it's after a rainy day, walk around the Gherkin and find an area that is most slick with water to achieve a reflection.
There are a lot of different viewpoints at this architectural gem, so walk around and experiment! Don't be afraid to get creative and find your own perspective.

If you're looking to eat, check out Sushi Samba or Duck and Waffle at 110 Bishopsgate. Sushi Samba is on the 38th and 39th floor and Duck and Waffle is on the 40th so the views are absolutely incredible and the food is fantastic, too.
