Seeing as it's the tallest building in Europe, it's pretty hard to miss The Shard when you visit London. And while everyone might have a photo of the towering structure, not many know where to find this perspective — with the winding steps leading to the River Thames and illuminated skyline in the distance.

This image was taken from the stairs that are adjacent to the London Bridge, with a south-facing view of the River Thames, The Shard and city skyline.
I stood at the top of the stairs before the platform to get this perspective. The easiest way to get to this location is by taking the Tube.
By public transportation:
- Closest station: Monument Station (via Circle or District Line)
- Head south on King William St/A3 toward Monument St
- Turn left and take the stairs
- Turn right and take the stairs
- Turn left and the destination will be on the right
