When to go
I shot this image of Salesforce Park and Salesforce Tower right after the rain and got some amazing light peaking in before some dark clouds rolled through, but San Francisco does offer photogenic conditions year round.
Sunset will be the best time for optimal lighting. I love to see some colors in the frame and as the sun begins to set, the vibrancy of the city comes to life.
Field tips
Before flying a drone, check and follow local drone regulations and permit requirements.
I shot this with a Mavic 2 Pro, which comes equipped with a Hasselblad lens. If you're shooting with a camera, then I suggest bringing along a wide-angle lens so you can photograph more of the cityscape from the ground level.
I wanted to center the park as best as I could to showcase the tower and newly-built architecture surrounding the park. Since these buildings have gone up in the last few years, this is definitely a new look for San Francisco that not many have seen from an aerial view and having the park in the middle of the shot brings it all together.
In order to show how large the Salesforce Tower is, it's important that you fly high enough to capture the top of the building. If you only photograph some of the tower, the height of the building won't be conveyed through the shot.

Do nearby
The park itself has a lot to offer, but you're also close to The Embarcadero. This three mile-long area offers coastline views and famous attractions, like the Ferry Building. There are restaurants, bars and piers, too, so you can spend the entire day exploring here.
